The "Stardust" is one of the oldest pubs in Jerusalem. It was established in 1996 over the ruins of another pub, "The Mad Hatter". Beforehand, at the 80's, the place hosted a cozy bar named "Touch" and in the 70 the cult coffee-shop "Chocolate Soup".The "Stardust" crowed is a mix of students, journalists, tourists, artists and young people. The music at the place is alternative, mainly from England. The prices are very friendly, especially at the Happy-Hour, which starts everyday at 16:30, and lasts for 5 hours. All major sport events, including the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, World Cup and Champions League are shown here on the big screen.

The "Stardust" is named after the classic David Bowie album, "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars". This is not the only music connection the place holds. The "Stardust" was the first pub in Jerusalem to host live DJ's, and over the years some very important figures from the music world, including Johnny Greenwood (The Radiohead guitarist), Nick Cave and the band of John Cale (from Velvet Underground), visited the place, and had a few. Another famous persona that has spent a few nights at the "Dust" is the Hollywood actress Natalie Portman. She prefers her Gin and Tonic with plenty of ice…

Over the years the "Stardust" won many awards. It was voted "The Best Pub in Jerusalem for 2006" by Kol Hair, the most read weekly newspaper in the city. It was also declared as the official pub of the local Football and Basketball team – Hapoel Jerusalem. In the meantime, the Indie band Coma wrote a song about the place, The Japanese photographer Yasuhide Moriguchi photographed the placed into a successful exhibition in Tokyo, The British writer Fabrice Schomberg wrote a book about the place, and the prestigious world travel guide, "The Lonely Planet", warmly recommended the pub.

Recently, the staff that is managing the "Stardust", opened another pub - "Hataklit" (The Record). Like the "Stardust", "The Record" is cult in the making.

Octopus Travel:

"As one of the many bars that line Rivlin Street in the Ben Yehuda Street area, Pub Stardust is a cosy joint that prides itself on its cultural melange of art students, Anglos and, in fact, the underdogs who are Jerusalem's football team. The intimate space creates the impression that here everyone knows your name, so sit back with Israel's own Goldstar beer and feel like a local."

Student Travel:

"Check out the area around Rivlin St, Jaffa Rd, and Zion Square for a thriving pub scene. The area is dotted with bars and clubs - it gets packed on the weekends, but not until late. Be sure to make a stop at Pub Stardust (6 Rivlin St), a cavernous dive with an awesomely random playlist. The Stardust is named after a David Bowie album and is popular with local students and artists"
